Creating our community.
At CIC Japan, our DEIB team is dedicated to “Creating our community.” – A space where everyone, from staff to clients, feels welcome and a true sense of belonging from their very first step through the door. We strive to lead by example, championing diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging within Japan’s ecosystem. Through our efforts, we aim to inspire progress, foster growth and create meaningful change.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) is an organizational framework that fosters an inclusive and inviting workplace environment. Diversity refers to the gathering of a variety of background or identity of an individual, while equity focuses on the promotion of the concept of fairness and Equality among each other, uplifting those who have historically been underrepresented or disadvantaged. Inclusion refers to the creation of a workplace that actively promotes a culture of inclusivity through various measures. These three pillars are tied together through the concept of belonging, bringing together key values that help individuals feel a sense of belonging in a welcoming environment.

Code of ConductWe have implemented a comprehensive Code of Conduct for both clients and visitors to ensure that our space remains respectful, inclusive, and safe for everyone.
Facilities
We have implemented a comprehensive Code of Conduct for both clients and visitors to ensure that our space remains respectful, inclusive, and safe for everyone.
A private space equipped with a refrigerator, designed to support working parents.
A calm and private space with prayer mats available for use.
The entire facility is wheelchair-friendly and designed with full accessibility in mind.
Our staff can assist in multiple languages, and all signage and information is provided in both Japanese and English.
EVENT
CIC Japan holds at least 1 DEIB-related event every quarter.

DEIB Team
DEIB is not about being politically correct while still harboring certain prejudices, nor is it an avenue for some individuals to gain a sense of entitlement.
Rather, DEIB is about being open and genuinely interested in learning about the experiences and perspectives of others.
DEIB means to me creating a space where everyone truly belongs, challenging societal imbalances, and driving meaningful change.
As a startup supporter, I see my DEIB mission as creating a psychologically safe space where entrepreneurs can exchange ideas freely, take on challenges without fear of failure or differences, and feel truly included. I believe that it is in such an environment that real innovation emerges!
DEIB is the key to realizing the present and future as they ought to be. Engaging with DEIB means reflecting on myself, the people around me, society as a whole, and the environment that will shape my future.
I believe DEIB is not a difficult concept — it’s simply about “taking a moment to imagine how someone outside your own environment might feel.” I hope we can build a society where we have the time and emotional space to do that.
For me, DEIB represents the belief that while we can never fully understand another person’s life, we can always choose to listen with empathy, imagine with openness, and take action to create a society where everyone is respected and valued for who they are.
For me, DEIB means creating an environment where everyone—regardless of nationality or cultural background—can feel safe to be their authentic self. It’s not only about embracing diversity and promoting inclusion, but also about ensuring equity so that every voice is heard and valued.
