We Joined a discussion with Minister of the Environment Shinjiro Koizumi, and Parliamentary Vice-Minister Ayuko Kato CIC Tokyo presented about support for startups and the potential for collaboration between startups and the environment and energy communities. Moving forward, CIC Tokyo plans to support startups in the field of environmental energy.
Announcement

Takaaki Umezawa, Chairman of CIC Japan, attended a discussion about how to support environmental startups, which was hosted by the Ministry of the Environment on August 6, 2020. The event was also attended by Shinjiro Koizumi, Minister of the Environment; and Ayuko Kato, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for the Environment; CEO’s from startups such as Mitsuru Izumo, President of Euglena Inc., Kazuhide Sekiyama from Spiber, also attended. In addition, Chairman Tohru Akaura of the Japan Venture Capital Association, who has played an active role in supporting startups, along with Yuma Saito, President of Deloitte Tohmatsu Venture Support, joined the event.

During the discussion, which was held online, Chairman Umezawa explained the concept behind CIC Tokyo and announced the schedule for its grand opening. He also expressed the intention of CIC Tokyo to collaborate with the startup community in the field of environment and energy.

In addition, Ayuko Kato, Parliamentary Vice-Minister of the Environment, announced the future efforts that the Ministry of the Environment will undertake to support startups working to tackle environmental challenges. Attendees shared opinions about how to support the growing community of startups in the area of environment and energy.
